Temple University has released an ambitious 10-year strategic plan that will significantly transform its North Philadelphia campus and surrounding neighborhoods. With major investments in housing, green space, research facilities, and streetscape improvements, this plan is expected to have a lasting impact on the local real estate market.

The plan guides the university through its 150th anniversary in 2034 and includes a long-term vision for development along North Broad Street.

What’s Included in Temple’s Future Vision?

Temple’s strategy includes both a 10-year growth plan and a 20-year campus development plan designed to modernize the campus and strengthen connections to the surrounding community.

Major Campus Projects

  • 1,000-bed residence hall to support growing student enrollment

  • New STEM academic and research complex

  • A redesigned campus quad with expanded green space

  • More visible and attractive campus entrances along Broad Street

These projects are aimed at improving student life while making the campus feel more open, modern, and integrated into the neighborhood.

The North Broad “Innovation Corridor”

Temple President John Fry outlined a long-term vision to create an innovation corridor along Broad Street.

This corridor would extend from:

  • Terra Hall at Broad & Walnut (Center City)
    to

  • Temple’s Health Campus, located more than a mile north of the main campus.

The corridor will focus on:

  • Research and innovation hubs

  • New development opportunities

  • Improved public spaces

  • Green areas for recreation and events

This effort is designed to make North Broad Street more attractive and economically vibrant.
