Perkasie is facing a new debate over development. At a recent Perkasie Borough Planning Commission meeting, more than a dozen local residents raised concerns about Perkasie Place, a proposed luxury apartment project near the Perkasie Square shopping center.

The developers are seeking to subdivide a 22-acre parcel on Constitution Avenue to construct 75 upscale apartments across five two-story buildings on 7.9 acres of the site. Currently, the land is zoned I-2 (Light Industrial), which allows for retail, light office, and industrial uses, such as manufacturing, research labs, and warehouses.

Because of this, developers have submitted an application for a zoning variance, which will be reviewed by the Perkasie Borough Zoning Hearing Board in September.

Local residents expressed several concerns about the proposal, including the potential impact on traffic congestion, flooding, wildlife, and the growing issue of overdevelopment within the borough.

This project is part of a broader conversation happening across Bucks County and beyond, as communities balance the demand for new housing with the need to preserve open space and manage infrastructure.
