A familiar Bucks County school building is bustling with students once again. The former Pearl S. Buck Elementary School in Middletown Township, which closed last winter after students transitioned to the brand-new Core Creek Elementary School, has found a new purpose.

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) has entered into a lease agreement with the Neshaminy School District, transforming the former Pearl S. Buck Elementary into a vibrant educational space once more.

Beginning in September, the Bucks IU at Pearl S. Buck location began offering special education programs designed for kindergarten through eighth-grade students who require autistic and emotional support. The building now houses 18 specialized classrooms, each tailored to meet students’ individualized education program (IEP) goals and learning needs.

Students attending the Bucks IU Special Education School-Age Programs come through referrals from their home school districts, ensuring every child receives the right resources and support in an environment built to help them succeed.

This new chapter for the Pearl S. Buck Elementary property highlights how local school districts and educational organizations can collaborate to make the most of existing community spaces — a win for families, educators, and the greater Bucks County community.
