A major redevelopment project is officially moving forward in Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania. The former Melrose Country Club, a 116-acre property that once served as a golf course, is being transformed into a new mixed-use community called The Enclave at Melrose.
This $250 million redevelopment is expected to break ground in February 2026, bringing new housing, healthcare, retail, and community amenities to the area.
From Golf Course to Thriving Community
Melrose Country Club originally opened in 1926 as a private course and later became open to the public before closing in December 2024. Now, the property is being reimagined as a walkable, multi-use neighborhood designed to serve residents of all ages.
The project is being led by Melrose Development LLC and has already received most zoning and land development approvals.
What’s Included in the Enclave at Melrose?
The new development will feature a diverse mix of residential and community spaces, including:
Residential Housing
330 total homes
172 market-rate townhomes
158 age-restricted homes for residents 55+
Healthcare & Wellness
Assisted living facilities
A large medical office building
A traumatic brain injury treatment center
Retail & Community Amenities
Neighborhood retail space
Community pool and amenity center
Walking trails and preserved green space
The site design was refined in collaboration with Cheltenham Township to support local schools, improve public facilities, and address long-term community needs.
