Bucks County residents should be on high alert for a new fraudulent tax scam circulating via text message. Scammers are impersonating the Philadelphia Department of Revenue, sending messages that claim to offer tax refunds. These texts include a malicious link designed to steal sensitive banking information.

The Philadelphia Department of Revenue has confirmed that it will never ask for bank account details, tax refund information, or personal financial data by text message. If you receive such a message, do not click the link — delete it immediately.

This scam is especially concerning in our region, as U.S. Census data shows that more than 12% of Bucks County residents work in Philadelphia and could be more likely to fall for a message appearing to come from the city.

As a reminder, protecting your financial information is just as important as protecting your home investment. Always verify any suspicious messages directly with official sources before responding.
