The beloved Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville—a landmark known for its rich history and vibrant arts scene—is getting some much-needed restoration. Construction is now underway on a major preservation project aimed at repairing the building’s damaged west wall, a structural issue that has threatened the integrity of the historic 1903 theater.

Thanks to an incredible community effort, the Colonial Theatre raised over $200,000 to fund the project. The repairs will help prevent moisture from seeping into the structure and protect the building for generations to come. The restoration also ensures that this iconic Phoenixville cultural destination can continue hosting concerts, independent films, and community events year-round.

The Colonial Theatre stands out as one of the few venues in the United States capable of projecting both traditional 35mm film and modern 2K digital formats, making it a treasured piece of film and architectural history in Chester County.

This project represents more than just a structural fix—it’s a commitment to preserving Phoenixville’s heritage and supporting its growing arts community.
